385 Gloucester

4 apartments with 2 bedrooms + study, with detached carports to maximise the useable site.

The apartments are clad in timber shiplap, with their symmetry defined by their gable forms and geometrically set out windows.

The site demanded a lightweight construction solution, and they're constructed completely from timber framing, including tenancy walls, on a concrete raft foundation.

Judges comments from ADNZ Awards: "This design brings sophistication to the problem of low cost urban housing. An efficient plan, simple form and bold use of materials."
